As one of the bloggers of Work With Nature I’m writing about animals and nature.
Adopteer Regenwoud (Work With Nature) is a dutch foundation established by two biologists. Their mission is to protect the Costa Rican rainforest and facilitate research in this area. Their plan is to preserve and restore at least 2000 hectares through the purchase of rainforest and active protection of this rainforest and its biodiversity. All the work is done by students and volunteers from all over the world.
It was my plan to travel to Costa Rica in 2020 but due to the Covid-pandemic, I had to stay at home. I was in contact with one of the owners of the foundation, Mathijs Bol, and asked him if I can be a blogger for the website.
He was enthusiastic about my plan and I decided to write blogs about different animal species in the rainforest of Costa Rica (animal passports) and other subjects. For example, I’ve written blogs about Co2 compensation and the different types of rainforest. I’m doing it on a two-months basis.
In 2022 I had the chance to visit the project in Costa Rica. For three weeks, I did voluntary work in the rainforest and that makes me aware of the beautiful nature and the animal species out there. As a writer, it’s really nice to have a real view of the subjects you’re writing about. You have to look a sloth straight in his eyes before you can write about it with a feeling, right?!
